Shredding of magnetic and optical media.
Data bearing media store enormous volumes of data. If this falls into the hands of the wrong people the damage to the company can be huge.
When shredded many are not suitable for recycling, as they often contain a mixture of plastics and metals that are difficult to seperate (we will remove any plastic cases prior to shredding for recycling). The shredded material is incinerated at a waste to energy recovery centre (see General Waste).
